My boiler has no heating and no hot water — what’s wrong?

It’s often low pressure, a failed component, or a fault locking the boiler out — many boilers show an error code when this happens. First check the pressure gauge isn’t below 1 and that other gas appliances work. If that doesn’t bring it back, it needs a proper diagnosis rather than guesswork.
I have heating but no hot water (or the other way round). Why?

On a combi boiler that’s very often the diverter valve — the part that sends hot water either to your taps or to the radiators. When it sticks or fails, you get one but not the other. It’s a common repair and rarely means a new boiler.
My boiler keeps losing pressure. Is that serious?

It usually points to a small leak in the system, a failing pressure-relief valve, or a tired expansion vessel. Topping it up helps for a while, but if it keeps dropping the underlying cause needs finding and fixing — otherwise it’ll keep happening and can damage the boiler.
How often does my boiler need inspecting in Spain?

There are two separate things, and both matter. By law, the gas installation in your home is inspected every five years. Your gas boiler should also be serviced — the regulations set this at every two years for a standard domestic boiler (and yearly for larger ones). Tell me what you have and I’ll let you know what’s due.
Is it worth repairing my boiler, or should I replace it?

It depends on the boiler’s age and the cost of the fix. As a rough guide, if it’s well over ten years old and the repair is a big one, replacing can make more sense. If it’s newer and the fault is a single part, a repair is usually the better value. I’ll give you my honest view either way.
What should I do if I can smell gas?

Treat it seriously. Don’t switch anything electrical on or off, open the windows, turn off the gas at the stopcock if you safely can, and leave the property. Call your gas emergency line first. Once it’s safe, I can come and find and fix the fault on the boiler.
